UNA members encouraged to participate in tonight's Telephone Town Hall on pensions

The Labour Coalition on Pensions will hold an important Telephone Town Hall to discuss proposed changes to Alberta’s public-sector pensions on Tuesday, January 21, at 7 p.m.

United Nurses of Alberta is a member of the coalition and all members will receive a telephone call between 7 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. on January 21 inviting them to take part in the event. UNA members are encouraged to listen and ask questions about this important topic that will have an impact on all of us.

The Telephone Town Hall will feature pension expert Brendan George in conversation with UNA President Heather Smith, AFL President Gil McGowan, HSAA President Elisabeth Ballermann and CUPE Alberta President Marle Roberts.

The event will be hosted by CBC radio personality Jana O’Connor.

If you answer the call, the system will connect you to the Telephone Town Hall, where we invite you to ask questions of our panel and to participate in interactive questionnaires. The event is scheduled to end at about 8 p.m.

If you do not receive a phone call, or are not home when we call, you can participate in the Telephone Town Hall by calling 1-877-229-8493. You will be asked for a PIN number, which is 112276.

Those who are interested in participating live and in person are welcome to join us at the CN Conference Theatre at Grant MacEwan University, where the 140 seats will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.
