Hundreds of nurses participate in meetings on negotiations and pensions

More than 60 UNA members packed a room in Grande Prairie on January 29 to hear the latest news about provincial negotiations and the future of the Local Authorities Pension Plan.

More than 60 Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses gathered at a town hall meeting in Grande Prairie on January 29 to hear updates from United Nurses of Alberta representatives about provincial negotiations and the state of the Local Authorities Pension Plan.

This was the seventh town hall meeting held this month to give UNA members opportunities to discuss their concerns about the drastic changes to their provincial collective agreement proposed by employers and changes proposed by the provincial government that will impact the the Local Authorities Pension Plan.

Hundreds of UNA members participated in the town hall meetings held in Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, Calgary and Edmonton.

UNA has produced a series of factsheets about this round of bargaining. The employers are seeking significant rollbacks in several areas important to Alberta’s nurses.
