UNA begins negotiations with CapitalCare - Edmonton

On Oct. 27 and 28, 2014, representatives of United Nurses of Alberta Local 118 are scheduled to start negotiations for a new contract with CapitalCare - Edmonton.

The current contact for UNA members employed at nine worksites operated by CapitalCare – Edmonton expired on March 31, 2013. The current contract will carry forward until a new collective agreement is ratified.

Employees included in these negotiations work at the following facilities:

  • CapitalCare Group – Dickinsfield
  • CapitalCare Group – Grandview
  • CapitalCare Group – Laurier House
  • CapitalCare Group – Lynwood
  • CapitalCare Group – Norwood
  • CapitalCare Group – Strathcona Care Centre
  • Choice Dikinsfield
  • Choice Norwood
  • Kipnes Centre for Veterans

UNA provides a wide range of services to its members. A key role is negotiating the excellent collective agreements that regulate salaries, benefits, schedules and working conditions of members. UNA also administers its agreements to resolve disputes, improve working conditions and protect nurses’ workplace rights.

In August 2014, UNA members overwhelmingly ratified a provincial collective agreement with Alberta Health Services, Covenant Health, Bethany Care (Camrose) and Lamont Health Centre.

UNA is the union for more than 30,000 Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses and allied workers in Alberta.
