Safe staffing a priority for University of Alberta Hospital nurses

'Safe staffing saves lives' is the message members of United Nurses of Alberta Local 301 will send at an information walk being held on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. near the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. The event will take place on 112th Street, east of the University of Alberta Hospital.

Since last year, UNA locals have raised the importance of safe staffing across the health care continuum by holding information walks outside workplaces in dozens of communities across Alberta.

UNA members are encouraged to wear white on Wednesdays to help their patients, residents and clients visually identify how many nurses are working in their hospital or health care centre.

Local 301 represents UNA members at the University Hospital, the Stollery Children's Hospital and the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute.
