Heather Smith acclaimed to 14th term as UNA president at 2014 AGM

Susan Coleman, Christina Doktor, Heidi Gould and Karen Kuprys were elected today as district representatives for the United Nurses of Alberta’s North Central District and John Terry as district rep for the union’s South District. 

The two districts held the only contested elections at UNA’s 2014 annual general meeting. All others positions requiring elections this year were filled by acclamation, including the jobs of president and secretary-treasurer.

UNA’s districts are assigned numbers of district representatives on the basis of membership numbers. Two of its four Executive Officer positions are filled on alternating years.

UNA President Heather Smith announced the vote results at 3 p.m. today.

Smith herself was re-elected by acclamation to her 14^th two-year term as UNA’s leader. Her colleague Karen Craik was elected to her 9th elected term as the union’s Secretary-Treasurer.
