UNA honoured with the Community Spirit of Gold Award

The Calgary and District Labour Council presented the Community Spirit of Gold Award to United Nurses of Alberta on April 14, 2015 in recognition of the union’s long-time support of the Calgary Workers' Resource Centre (CWRC).

The CWRC was founded as an initiative by the Calgary and District Labour Council to provide free services on employment rights to marginalized workers in Calgary. Initial funding for the centre came from the United Way of Calgary and Area and the United Nurses of Alberta.

The CWRC is an organization based in Calgary created to help Calgarians understand and access the rights and benefits they are entitled to in Alberta. CWRC also engages in dialogue with government and stakeholders to promote policies and legislation that will improve the working conditions of workers in Alberta.
