Multi-Employer/UNA Collective Agreement
Increased Mileage and Subsistence Rates
May, 2008
Article 10: Transportation
The Multi-Employer/UNA Collective Agreement makes the following provisions for the reimbursement of transportation expenses when an Employee uses their personal automobile for work:
10.01 An Employee who is called back pursuant to the provisions of Article 9: On-Call Duty/Call Back shall be reimbursed for reasonable, necessary and substantiated transportation expense and, if the Employee travels for such purpose by private automobile, reimbursement shall be at the rate of 44¢ per kilometer from the Employee’s residence to the site and return (or Government of Alberta rates, whichever is greater).
10.03 When an Employee is assigned duties necessitating the use of the Employee’s private automobile she or he shall be reimbursed pursuant to Article 10.01
Effective May 1, 2008, the Provincial Government of Alberta increased the per kilometer reimbursement rate for business travel to 46¢ per kilometer. As a result, the reimbursement rate under the Multi-Employer/UNA Collective Agreement is now also 46¢ per kilometer for all transportation expenses that are incurred on or after May 1, 2008 that are reimbursable in accordance with Article 10 of the Multi-Employer/UNA Collective Agreement.
Article 43: Subsistence
Article 43 provides for reimbursement of expenses when an employee is required to travel more than 50 kilometres from the employee’s home site or normal work area. In accordance increase to the Province of Alberta Regulations Governing Travel and Subsistence, these rates also increase effective May 1, 2008 as follows:
