Are we ready for a pandemic:
nurses needed for a survey

Canada faces an urgent need to improve preparedness to manage infectious disease outbreaks, as evidenced by the SARS outbreak in 2003 and ongoing concerns of pandemic influenza.

A research team from the Institute of Population Health at the University of Ottawa is conducting a national survey on the support needs of nurses during infectious disease outbreaks.

They are seeking the following categories of nurses for the 30 minute survey:
• RNs, RPNs working in Emergency or Critical Care
• Nursing managers working in Emergency or Critical Care
• Infection Control Officers working in hospital settings
• Nurse educators working in hospital settings
• Military nurses or physician assistants.

Interested participants can fill the survey out online at www.cwhn.ca/resources/gba/crti.html. They can also request a copy of the survey by mail: contact Lynn McCrann (lmccrann@uottawa.ca; or by phone 613-562-5800 x2645)
