New Year's message from UNA President Heather Smith
United Nurses of Alberta President Heather Smith is sending New Year's greetings to nurses across Alberta in a new video on YouTube.
"As 2009 comes to an end, I wanted to wish you and your family a safe holiday season and a Happy New Year," said Heather Smith.
While encouraging nurses to enjoy the holiday season, Heather Smith reminded UNA members of the challenges ahead, "it is important to tell your friends and family about the important role that professional nurses have in making our public health care system strong."
At the November provincial meeting, each UNA Local was given special pins to distribute to their members. All UNA members are being encouraged to wear their nursing pin with pride and to let their patients, residents, and clients know that they are a nurse.
"I look forward to working with you in 2010. We have lots to do to improve, not erode, our public health care. We will protect the right of Albertans to good nursing care when they need it," said Heather Smith.
