UNA members and staff were among the estimated more than one thousand people at the Occupy Edmonton rally held on Saturday, October 15 in Churchill Square. The Occupy Edmonton rally was one in a series of rallies being held in hundreds of cities across the globe.
UNA Vice-President Bev Dick and Local 79 member Irene Gouin were two of the nurses who flew the UNA flag at the rally. Through the Join Together Alberta campaign, UNA supports the proper funding of public services and the need to reform Alberta's broken revenue system.
Some participants of Occupy Edmonton continued the rally over the next two nights, camping in a park in the downtown of the city. |
