As part of their 'Project 2012' the Alberta
Federation of Labour is producing historical posters focusing on past achievements by the labour movement in Alberta. The AFL will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2012.
Poster description:
The subject is Bill 11 (Alberta Healthcare Protection Act) introduced in April 2000. It was a blatant attempt by the government to privatize health care but opposition through protests organized by labour and the Friends of Medicare forced the government to remove most of the offensive sections.
