Nearly 800 UNA nurses packed the Shaw Conference hall in Edmonton for UNA’s 31st provincial Annual General meeting. The nurses talked about working conditions in health care and voted on changes to their constitution and other business.  There was also a good deal of talk about the breaking news story of the province testing patients from High Prairie where multi-dose syringes were used. UNA President Heather Smith noted the risk of infection was being badly exaggerated.  “The bigger risk to patients comes on units that are running short of the nurses they need,” she noted.  UNA released a special statement on the syringe concerns.
