Members of United Nurses of Alberta were represented in strong numbers at the 2011 Canadian Labour Congress Convention, held May 9 to 13 at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
UNA President Heather Smith, Second Vice-President Jane Sustrik, and Secretary-Treasurer Karen Craik were among the many UNA members who joined the delegation from the Canadian Federational of Nurses Unions at the Convention.
The Convention, themed "Good jobs. Better lives," featured prominent speakers like NDP leader Jack Layton, former British Columbia Premier Mike Harcourt, Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson, CBC journalist Wendy Mesley, and AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka.
