Nurses voted in favour of the "Voluntary Early Retirement Program" agreement with Covenant Health in a province-wide ratification vote held on January 7, 2010. The Voluntary Early Retirement Program is time limited and will be offered on a one-time basis only in early 2010.
The time lines are as follows:
January 7 - UNA ratification vote of Plan
January 11 - Employees may begin requesting calculations
week of January 11 - Employer will announce extent of expected downsizing.
January 18 - Deadline for requesting calculations
January 20 - Deadline for employer to respond to the requests for calculation
January 27 - Deadline for employee to make application for voluntary early retirement
March 8 - Deadline for employer to respond to applications.
