Contract talks broke off with the Alberta Cancer Board on Friday, June 11. Negotiations reached an impasse with the Board over a few points, most importantly benefits for nurses on unpaid terminal care leave.

Talks continue with long-term care Employers, the Continuing Care Employers Bargaining Association (CCEBA). The Employers have been ordered to hold a vote on the nurses’ latest proposal by the Labour Relations Board this week. Several issues remain outstanding with the long-term care Employers, who do not want to meet the requirement to have a Registered nurse in charge and on duty at all times.
