Alberta nurses congratulate premier designate; look forward to working with her
EDMONTON - The United Nurses of Alberta congratulates Premier Designate Alison Redford for her election Sunday by Progressive Conservative Party members and looks forward to working with her to enhance and protect the province's public health care system, UNA President Heather Smith said this morning.
"We were very pleased that Ms. Redford so strongly committed to maintaining our province's public health care system, and we believe her election shows the depth of support for public health care among Conservative Party members and all Albertans," Smith said.
"We look forward to a positive working relationship with Ms. Redford and her government and cabinet, and we are committed to keeping the lines of communication open even when we disagree," Smith said.
The UNA president noted that Ms. Redford was the only Conservative leadership candidate to meet Alberta nurses' elected union representatives during the campaign, and said UNA views this as a very positive sign for the future.
