Alberta's Union Advantage
There were 220,000 women union members working in Alberta in 2013 - about 25.4% of women employees. They earned, on average, $7.80/hour more than non-union women workers because their unions negotiated fair wages and work hours.
New website connects new Nurses with their Union
United Nurses of Alberta is making it easier for new nurses to learn about how their union operates and the services it provides. A new website - introduction.una.ab.ca - is part of UNA's new member orientation and includes easy to access information about how the union can help new members.
UNA calls for a new Misericordia Hospital
United Nurses of Alberta Second Vice-President Daphne Wallace joined leaders of other health care unions at a morning news conference at the Legislature organized by the Alberta NDP to call for work to begin on a new hospital to replace the Misericordia Hospital in West Edmonton.
