Alberta nurses take action against abuse in the workplace

UNA's Dewey Funk leads a discussion about abuse in the workplace.

UNA members participating in the 'Dealing with Abuse' workshop are provided with an understanding of the various types of workplace abuse and that abuse in any form is unacceptable. The workshop encourages participants to take appropriate action if they are they targets of abuse, to provide support to co-workers who have been abused, and to provide participants with the tools to advocate for the prevention of workplace abuse.

UNA takes workplace safety extremely seriously and has formed Occupational Health and Safety Committees to ensure employers provide healthy and safe working environments. UNA views this as not only an essential protection of the well-being of our members, but as a vital protection of the quality of care received by our patients. UNA recognizes that safe and competent care cannot be provided in an unhealthy or unsafe workplace.
