United Nurses of Alberta welcomes new members from the Benevolence Care Centre in west Edmonton.

The bargaining unit of 20 Registered Nurses was formed shortly after their application to join UNA was approved on June 22, 2018.

Representatives of the Benevolence Care Centre nurses have started negotiations for a first collective agreement with their employer, Park Place Seniors Living. Meetings were held on October 15, 16, and 17, 2018.

"Negotiations are going well and the new UNA members have enjoyed an open discussion with their employer about their first contract," said Joe Ahrens, the UNA Labour Relations Officer assigned to assist the local bargaining committee.

UNA members employed at Benevolence Care Centre have not yet been assigned to a UNA Local.

UNA provides a wide range of services to its members. A key role is negotiating the excellent collective agreements that regulate salaries, benefits, schedules and working conditions of members. UNA also administers its agreements to resolve disputes, improve working conditions and protect nurses’ workplace rights.
