PrintUNA members overwhelmingly ratify union bargaining proposals for new Provincial Collective Agreement
Members of United Nurses of Alberta employed by Alberta Health Services, Covenant Health, Lamont Health Care Centre, and the Bethany Group (Camrose) have voted overwhelmingly to ratify the bargaining proposals recommended by delegates to the 2023 proposal-setting meeting.
After discussion and the opportunity to make amendments, all proposals were endorsed by the delegates to the meeting.
Close to 98 per cent of the members who voted on January 31 approved the package of bargaining proposals.
The ratified proposals have now become the “Ingoing Proposal Package” that UNA will present to Employer bargaining representatives when negotiations for a new Provincial Collective Agreement with AHS and the other employers formally commence on February 6, 2024.
UNA and the employers have agreed to a timeline for bargaining and UNA hopes an agreement that recognizes and respects the hard work and sacrifice of Alberta’s front-line nurses can be reached by April without the need for mediation. That way, the union, employers, and government can focus on the critical task of retaining and recruiting nurses in Alberta.
The current agreement expires on March 31, 2024.
