Celebrate the achievements of workers at Labour Day events

Labour Day is an annual holiday to celebrate the achievements of workers and has been celebrated on the first Monday in September in Canada since the 1880s.

Today, nurses are leaders in Canada's labour movement. As the union for nearly 26,000 Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses and allied workers in Alberta, United Nurses of Alberta is an effective advocate for nurses, the nursing profession and Canada’s fair and efficient public health care system.

This year, District Labour Councils across Alberta are celebrating Labour Day by holding free barbecues and events open to the public. Help celebrate the achievements of working Canadians by participating in a Labour Day event near you.
