UNA members urged to attend AUPE Shepherd’s Care rally

Abrupt layoffs of staff members at five Shepherd’s Care seniors’ care facilities in Edmonton will hurt the quality of care for residents, says the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees in advance of a rally against the cuts on Friday.

UNA members are urged to attend the Oct. 3 rally to sop the layoffs in support of their co-workers in AUPE. The rally will take place from 3 to 4 p.m. at Shepherd’s Care Kensington, 12603 – 135 Ave.

Shepherd’s Care Foundation, which runs the centres, plans to replace dietary staff with services provided by a for-profit multinational food service company.
