Mediator confirms RPNs will receive professional fee reimbursement

Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPN) represented by United Nurses of Alberta who paid professional fees to the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta and qualified for the $100 reimbursement fee for the 2014/2015 year will be reimbursed an additional $150.

Following the ratification of the new Provincial Collective Agreement between United Nurses of Alberta and Alberta Health Services, Covenant Health, Bethany Group (Camrose) and the Lamont Health Centre, UNA asked mediator David Jones to clarify his recommendations.

The union requested this clarification because the deadline for CRPNA fees was April 30, 2014 and the new contract was ratified in August 2014.

In a decision released this week, Jones informed the union and the employers that his intention was that Registered Psychiatric Nurses covered under the collective agreement will be reimbursed the additional $150 for the 2014/2015 year.

RPNs may need to make a request for the reimbursement with their manager.

Under the new collective agreement, RPN and Registered Nurses will receive $250 annually as reimbursement the cost of fees due to their professional associations.
