UNA starts bargaining with The Good Samaritan Society

United Nurses of Alberta's bargaining committee started negotiations for a new contract with The Good Samaritan Society on November 13 and 14, 2014. Representatives of from United Nurses of Alberta Locals 8, 212, 223 and 316 will begin negotiating a new contract with The Good Samaritan Society on November 13 and 14, 2014.

UNA members included in these negotiations are employed at the following facilities:

  • Clearwater Centre - Rocky Mountain House
  • Dr. Gerald Zetter Care Centre/Choice Programs
  • Millwoods Care Centre
  • Pembina Village
  • Southridge Centre
  • Southgate Centre
  • Stony Plain Care Centre

Collective agreements for UNA members working at these worksites expired on March 31, 2013. The current agreement will continue until a new contract is signed.

This will be the a second collective agreement for UNA members at the Clearwater Centre in Rocky Mountain House. They ratified their first contract in November 2012.

UNA provides a wide range of services to its members. A key role is negotiating the excellent collective agreements that regulate salaries, benefits, schedules and working conditions of members. UNA also administers its agreements to resolve disputes, improve working conditions and protect nurses' workplace rights.

In August 2014, UNA members ratified a provincial collective agreement with Alberta Health Services, Covenant Health, Bethany Care (Camrose) and Lamont Health Centre. 

United Nurses of Alberta is the union for more than 30,000 Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses and allied workers in Alberta.
