UNA ratifies new contract with AgeCare Valleyview in Medicine Hat

A new collective agreement has been ratified by members of UNA Local 137 and their employer at AgeCare Valleyview in Medicine Hat.

The three-year contract, which expires on August 31, 2017, includes:

  • A 2 per cent salary increase in the first year of the contract, a 2.25 per cent increase in the second year and 3 per cent increase in the third year.
  • A $500 signing bonus.
  • Retention lump sum payments of $500 on August 1, 2016 and August 1, 2017
  • Increased vacation accruals by five days for employees in their first to fourth years of employment.
  • A $200 employer reimbursement for annual professional association fees
  • An increase in RRSP matching contributions to 4.5 per cent on January 1, 2016 and 5 per cent on January 1, 2018. 
  • Replacement of Special Leave with Personal Leave.

UNA provides a wide range of services to its members. A key role is negotiating the excellent collective agreements that regulate salaries, benefits, schedules and working conditions of members. UNA also administers its agreements to resolve disputes, improve working conditions and protect nurses’ workplace rights.
