Justice and Equity the focus of 2014 Parkland Institute Fall Conference

Demanding justice and equity is the theme of the annual Parkland Institute Fall Conference being held at the University of Alberta on Nov. 21, 22 and 23, 2014.

Conference participants will be asked the question, why, at a time of remarkable economic growth, is wealth being skewing in very particular directions and what can and should be done about it.

Income inequality has become a growing topic of discussion in North America and Europe in recent years and conference speakers Guy Standing, Jane McAlevey, Kathleen Lahey, Stephanie Ross, Elaine Bernard and others will tackle this great debate.

United Nurses of Alberta President Heather Smith will join Parkland Institute researcher David Campanella and Health Sciences Association of Alberta President Elisabeth Ballermann for a panel discussion on Nov. 22 at 2:30 p.m. about the state of the labour movement in Alberta.

Early-bird registration deadline is Oct. 31. Visit the conference website to register or volunteer.
