UNA reaches tentative agreement with Chantelle Management Ltd.

After bargaining meetings on October 30, 31 and December 2, 2014, representatives of United Nurses of Alberta Local 37 at the Grande Prairie Care Centre and Local 172 at the Edith Cavel Care Centre in Lethbridge have reached a tentative agreement with Chantelle Management Ltd. for a new collective agreement.

Improvements for UNA members in the tentative agreement include:

  • Employer provided $200 for annual professional association fees,
  • Introduction of  portability of seniority,
  • Crisis intervention training added as a mandatory in-service.
  • Employer to pay for sick note if employee required to produce one.
  • Employees will now be paid basic rate of pay for attendance at Professional Responsibility Concerns and Occupational Health and Safety committee meetings.
  • Salary increases of 0% in the first year, 2% in the second year, 2.5% in the third year and 3% in the fourth year of the contract.
  • Lump sum payments of $2,000 in the first year, $1,000 in the second year and $1,000 in the third year of the contract.

The four-year collective agreement will expire on June 30, 2017.

Members of the two UNA locals will hold ratification votes in the near future.

UNA is the union for more than 30,000 Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses and allied workers in Alberta.
