UNA negotiates with Bethany Care Society

Representatives from United Nurses of Alberta Local 2 at Bethany Collegeside in Red Deer, Local 91 at Bethany Care Centre in Calgary and Local 173 at Bethany Care Centre - Cochrane will start negotiations this week for a new collective agreement with their employer, Bethany Care Society.

This will also be the first round of negotiations for UNA members at Bethany - Sylvan Lake, who voted to join the union on Oct. 24, 2014.

Bargaining is scheduled to take place in Calgary on Dec. 5, 2014. Ingoing proposals will be exchanged at this initial meeting and UNA expects further negotiation dates to be scheduled in the near future.

The previous collective agreement for Local 91 expired on March 31, 2013 and contracts for Local 2 and 173 expired on June 30, 2013. The current contracts will continue until a new collective agreement is reached.

UNA provides a wide range of services to its members. A key role is negotiating the excellent collective agreements that regulate salaries, benefits, schedules and working conditions of members. UNA also administers its agreements to resolve disputes, improve working conditions and protect nursesí workplace rights.

United Nurses of Alberta is the union for more than 30,000 Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses and allied workers in Alberta.
