Spreading solidarity on Valentine’s Day

United Nurses of Alberta’s Provincial Negotiations Committee is asking UNA members to wear red or a red ribbon on Valentine's Day, February 14, to show solidarity with their representatives as they head back to the bargaining table.

UNA is also pleased to share digital Valentine’s Day cards that members are encouraged to print-out and share with their co-workers and post on social media.

UNA started negotiations for the next Provincial Collective Agreement on February 6 and are schedule to meet with the Employer bargaining committee on February 14 and 15.

UNA and the employers have agreed to a timeline for bargaining and UNA hopes an agreement that recognizes and respects the hard work and sacrifice of Alberta’s front-line nurses can be reached by April without the need for mediation. That way, the union, employers, and government can focus on the critical task of retaining and recruiting nurses in Alberta.

The current Provincial Collective Agreement, which covers nurses represented by UNA employed by Alberta Health Services, Covenant Health, Lamont Health Care Centre, and the Bethany Group (Camrose), expires on March 31, 2024.

United Nurses of Alberta is the union for more than 35,000 Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses and allied workers in Alberta.
