This session introduces new executive members to their role in leading a healthy and active local. The teamwork aspect of local leadership is emphasized. Many of the day-to-day tasks needed to keep the local functioning are addressed. This session is one of only three addressing technology skills. Through online and computer based activities attendees learn about UNA Net's communication and data management system. All attendees are encouraged to ask computer and UNA Net based questions.

This workshop gives members a basic understanding of how to interpret the Occupational Health and Safety Article in their Collective Agreement and to become familiar with Hazard Assessment forms and Site Inspection Forms. Members will also discuss and evaluate the OH&S culture of their workplace.
Attending this workshop is a requirement for members serving as a local representative on their Occupational Health and Safety Committee.

The Grievance Workshop requires that qualified participants learn more about contract language and investigations in the different types of grievances and the Arbitration process, This workshop provides an overview of the importance of your roles and responsibilities as a UNA grievance representative. Arbitration is also reviewed in order to understand complexities of the quasi -judicial grievance resolution process. Grievance meeting role play is an integral and fun part of understanding the nuances of each step of the Collective agreement. As result you will have the tools to more effectively represent your local membership during the Grievance and Arbitration process.
