Executive Board Meeting
United Nurses of Alberta’s four Executive Officers and District Representatives from each of the union’s five Districts sit on the Provincial Executive Board. They are elected at UNA’s Annual General Meeting. Districts are allocated one representative on the Provincial Executive Board for every 1,500 dues-paying members with a minimum of two representatives for each District. The Board is the union’s decision-making body between Annual General Meetings

PRC Workshop ~ Calgary

For PRC Committee members and Local Executives only

You will develop knowledge and skills to help you provide information, support and encouragement to members who report Professional Responsibility Concerns, and to engage confidently with management representatives to achieve an effectively functioning PRC Committee. You will also learn how the PRC information that you enter in the DMS can be used to make effective presentations to CEOs and governing Boards. Case studies illustrating effective PRC communication and "success stories" will be presented. You will receive a print Study Guide at the workshop.

How to Run a Local - Finance ~ Edmonton

In this workshop, Local Executives and District Representatives will learn the main tasks in managing finances at the Local and District level. Whether you are the Treasurer or have a different Executive role, it is important to understand your Local’s finances. Through hands-on learning with UNA’s Data Management System, participants will become more confident in reading Local financial documents, preparing budgets, and entering and approving payments through individual expense claims and payee creation.

This workshop is designed for Local Executive members and District Representatives. It is one workshop in the three-part How to Run a Local series: Administration, Finance, and Labour Relations. Please ensure you have a UNANet account and bring your DMS username and password.

How To Run a Local - Labour Relations ~ Lethbridge

DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION: February 12, 2019

In this workshop, Local Executives and District Representatives will develop a deeper understanding of the dispute resolution and Duty to Accommodate processes through two interactive scenarios. In the first scenario, participants will explore the Employer investigation meeting process, including the Local’s role and UNA’s legal obligations in advocating for members. This scenario will then take us through the process of filing and resolving a grievance. Scenario two will explore the Employer’s Duty to Accommodate and will walk participants through the typical issues that arise during the accommodation process.

This workshop is designed for Local Executive members and District Representatives. It is one workshop in the three-part How to Run a Local series: Administration, Finance, and Labour Relations. South District Meeting

UNA Locals are grouped into five geographically based districts – North, North Central, Central, South Central and South. Presidents of UNA locals attend regular District Meetings where they share information, compare challenges and develop strategies.
