In this workshop, members will learn about each step of the PRC process including identification of concerns, the recommended best practices at each step, and what happens at and beyond their Local PRC Committee. Participants will develop the knowledge and skills to initiate the Professional Responsibility Concern (PRC) process and to engage confidently and collaboratively with management and local representatives to facilitate resolution.
In this workshop, Local Executives or Local PRC Committee representatives will learn in detail about each step of the PRC process, including the recommended best practices at each step, the role and responsibilities of a UNA PRC Committee member, and how to conduct a PRC committee meeting. Participants will develop the knowledge and skills to support members who report Professional Responsibility Concerns (PRCs) and to engage confidently and collaboratively with management representatives to work towards resolution.
For: Unit/Office Reps, Local Execs, and Executive Board members. In this workshop, UNA leaders and activists will explore best practices in having issue-based conversations with members and in addressing issues through collective action. We will discuss what collective action can look like and what to consider when planning a group action to address an issue.
For: all UNA members, including Local Executives. This 3 hour workshop is for all UNA Members. The goal of this work shop is to review mental health literacy and how setting personal boundaries aids in developing self care strategies. Systemic and individual approaches to developing mental well being are explored. The workshop is grounded in evidenced based practices and utilizes experiential learning activities, so be ready to explore personal well being. Provincial Funding is not available for this workshop
In this workshop, Occupational Health and Safety Committee members will build upon their knowledge from the OH&S Basic workshop. Participants will explore the OH&S Act, Regulation, and Code and will discuss the Committee’s role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. This is a full-day workshop and is provincially funded for OH&S Committee members who have not previously taken it.
In this workshop, Occupational Health and Safety Committee members will build upon their knowledge from the OH&S Basic workshop. Participants will explore the OH&S Act, Regulation, and Code and will discuss the Committee’s role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. This is a full-day workshop and is provincially funded for OH&S Committee members who have not previously taken it.
This workshop gives members a basic understanding of how to interpret the Occupational Health and Safety Article in their Collective Agreement and to become familiar with Hazard Assessment forms and Site Inspection Forms. Members will also discuss and evaluate the OH&S culture of their workplace. Attending this workshop is a requirement for members serving as a local representative on their Occupational Health and Safety Committee. Please bring your copy of the collective agreement with you to this workshop.

In this workshop, Local Executives and District Representatives will develop a deeper understanding of the dispute resolution and Duty to Accommodate processes. Participants will explore the Employer investigation meeting process, including the Local’s role and UNA’s legal obligations in advocating for members. Participants will then be led through the process of filing and resolving a grievance. Participants will then explore the Employer’s Duty to Accommodate and typical issues that arise during the accommodation process will be identified. This workshop is designed for Local Executive members and District Representatives. It is one workshop in the three-part How to Run a Local series: Administration, Finance, and Labour Relations.
