Nurses at Alfred Egan Home vote to join UNA

Registered Nurses employed at the Alfred Egan Home in the southeastern Alberta community of Bow Island voted last week to join United Nurses of Alberta.

Before voting to join UNA, the ten nurses employed at this worksite were the last RNs working in direct nursing care employed by Alberta Health Services to not be represented by a union.

UNA now represents Registered Nurses employed at every AHS worksite across the province and, according to the Labour Relations Board, UNA is now the bargaining agent for all AHS employees employed in direct nursing care or nursing instruction.
