UNA members show solidarity by wearing white

Members of UNA Local 79 at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton show their nursing pride by wearing white on Wednesdays.

United Nurses of Alberta members across Alberta are embracing the opportunity to show their pride for the nursing profession by wearing white on Wednesdays. One UNA member from Local 79 at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton sent us this note:

The RNs on Unit 51 have really embraced this opportunity to show their pride, and their dedication to their profession. We especially love wearing the white dresses, and when we do we are constantly getting compliments and praise from patients and their families, the rest of our team, and especially the physicians. It's really awesome to have some of those old Docs (who wouldn't know your name otherwise) come up to you and say "You guys all look really great in those white uniforms." Some Wednesdays we even have our Unit supervisor and our Care Coordinator show up wearing all whites!!  I hope we can help to inspire other Units and UNA members to get on board with the WWW idea.

Again, big thanks to you, and to UNA, for coming up with a brilliant way for RNs to be able to show their solidarity, and to feel important and valued once again. I think many of us are really in need of this campaign as a way to express ourselves in these times of 'change'.
