Canada's nurses will speak up at five-day Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions conference starting Monday in Calgary

Friday, June 2, 2017 (CALGARY) – More than 1,000 nurses from across Canada will attend the 2017 national biennial conference of the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions, which commences Monday in Calgary.

The theme of the convention is “Canada’s Nurses Speak Up!”

Monday is registration day for the national organization, and CFNU President Linda Silas accompanied by United Nurses of Alberta President Heather Smith and other members of CFNU’s National Executive Board will lead participants on “healthy walk” through the streets of Calgary.

The conference at Calgary’s TELUS Convention Centre includes two days of educational workshops for members followed by two days of CFNU business with the convention adjourning at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 9.

  • Rally for quality health care in Canada’s communities, 11:30 a.m., June 9 beginning at Calgary TELUS Convention Centre and ending at Olympic Plaza

Attendance at CFNU’s education sessions on June 6 and 7 will be restricted to accredited delegates.
