UNA and AHS reaffirm commitment to Professional Responsibility Concern process

United Nurses of Alberta and Alberta Health Services have issued a joint statement to update UNA members and AHS leaders of the progress being made toward improving the Professional Responsibility Concern process.

The letter, signed by UNA President Heather Smith, AHS Vice-President and Chief Health Operations Officer Northern Alberta Deb Gordon and AHS Vice-President and Chief Health Operations Officer Central and Southern Alberta Brenda Huband, reinforces the commitment to ensuring Professional Responsibility Concern Committees are an effective, proactive and collaborative mechanism to address patient care issues.

The statement reaffirms a shared vision and principles that the PRC process promotes safe and high-quality patient care.

While the AHS/UNA Collective Agreement outlines the process, new resources coming this fall will foster a more collaborative and consistent approach to applying the PRC process and detail best practices related to supporting safe, quality patient care in a just culture environment.
