UNA to conduct wage-reopener bargaining survey

United Nurses of Alberta will be conducting a wage re-opener bargaining survey of general members covered by the Provincial Collective Agreement between Wednesday, January 9, and Friday, January 18, 2019.

The current three-year provincial agreement, which expires in 2020, specified no increase to wages in the first two years of the contract but left determination of a wage rate for the third year of the agreement for a later date.

Known as a “wage re-opener” because wages are the only item from the contract that will be discussed, UNA is now preparing for this negotiation. The outcome of the negotiation will determine the wage rate in effect from April 1, 2019, to March 31, 2020.

As with previous UNA surveys, this is a telephone survey of a randomly selected sample of UNA members conducted by Viewpoints Research on behalf of UNA.

When Viewpoints Research calls, often in the evening, your call display will show the UNA provincial office name and number: 780-425-1025.

If you are randomly selected to participate, please be aware that Viewpoints does not leave a message but may attempt to contact you up to five times. If you are out, or unavailable, when Viewpoints calls, you may find UNA's number listed on your call display as a missed call.

Information collected through the survey is confidential and anonymous. To protect members' privacy, dialing is computerized. This means that although the telephone interviewer knows the name of the member they are calling, they do not know, and cannot access, the member’s phone number or any other contact information.

After responses are collected, Viewpoints Research combines and aggregates all the data before sharing results with UNA.
