University of Calgary student awarded UNA education scholarship

United Nurses of Alberta Local 95 member Sheri VanGunst, UNA Secretary/Treasurer Karen Craik and scholarship recipient Kristi VanGunst.

United Nurses of Alberta executive officer Karen Craik has presented a UNA Education Scholarship to University of Calgary nursing student Kristi VanGunst. Kristi's  scholarship application was sponsored by her mother, Sheri VanGunst, who is a member of UNA Local 95 at the Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary.

Each year, UNA awards Nursing Education Scholarships to assist nursing students in their first year of studies at approved nursing programs in Alberta. In 2016, UNA will award ten scholarships of $1000 each and one award of $1000 which is sponsored by the Canadian Federation of Nurses' Unions.

Applications for UNA’s 2017 Nursing Education Scholarship will be accepted until Oct. 15, 2016.
